A while back, I had to research the IRA gun-running network in New York City during the years the Westies were operating. The network was pretty significant and eventually wound up in federal court. What struck me was that I never came across any connection between that network and the Westies, despite the obvious overlap in time and geography. (I know the current Westies tv series has an IRA plot line but that appears to be fictional). Has anyone ever of a real connection? Even an informal one?
It bears mentioning that a film version of, "The Westies" is available on MGM+. It's an 8-episode mini series created and written by Chris Brancato (he also created and co-wrote, "Narcos"). J.K. Simmons stars as the boss of a small group of hoodlums in early 80s, "Hell's Kitchen." I have not read the book but I can say this mini series is a must see. And, for you "Bosch" fans, Titus Welliver plays a corrupt NYPD beat cop. Quite a contrast to the character he portrays in the series by the same name.

I put the book on my Amazon book list. It sounds like a great read!

Thank you for your description of the book, sounds like I'll be purchasing it to read although I can't seem to finish reading what I started. 🇺🇸🙏
