Quickie here re, today’s terrorism arrest: Subject just hit 18. I had a couple of cases like this.
Federally, a juvenile is 17 and below. Makes a BIG difference in the federal system. And as they are saying that he was on the FBI radar “since December of 2024”… it likely means they’ve been closely monitoring him SINCE then, waiting for him to hit his majority.
Credit to the Bureau here. That is an intense resource-suck. He’s on your radar; he means the nation harm; you don’t want to arrest him yet (or maybe you don’t have probable cause yet). So you have to stay on him—sometimes, 24/7. Because God forbid you knew about him and something goes boom….
In the cases I had, I recall waiting a month or so—and even that was very hard, and we had good coverage. This couldn’t have been easy.
We have all been frustrated with the FBI at various times in recent years, and with good reason. But from where I sit, while still imperfect (and what agency isn’t?), Kash has them moving again.
Yes, the subject is innocent until proven guilty. But I suspect, with that long to build the case: they have this one pretty buttoned up.

Can’t be good news for Abdul El-Sayed. Or Minnesota’s Senatorial candidate, Peggy Flanagan….
