The recently released film The Brink of War starring Jeff Daniels as Ronald Reagan and dealing with the 1986 Reykjavik Summit between Reagan and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev is a truly gripping and outstanding production.
Factually based The Brink of War depicts the necessity of informed diplomacy and the importance of serious, principled leaders like Reagan who refused to accept nuclear disarmament terms which would have guaranteed him instant worldwide acclaim but were not in America’s national interest. His willingness to walk away from the Reykjavic Summit and accept short-term criticism and abuse would in fact cause the collapse of the Soviet Union five years later and the end of the Cold War, an historic victory for America and the cause of freedom.
Ronald Reagan knew that wars aren’t ended overnight and victory isn’t achieved without sustained effort and guiding principles!
The Brink of War can be found on Amazon Prime and the Angel streaming service. It’s also still in theaters.

Yes! That movie is a great history lesson. I wish there were more movies like this that focus on one event within the context of history
